Meet Chris Neumann

About Me

Chris at the SLAB (half studio, half lab)

A little background:

I’m probably oversharing and may get too personal but that’s just who I am.

I am not “neuro-typical” (whatever that means) I’m comfortable with this and have learned to love this about myself.

I’ve spent most of my life diagnosed with bipolar 1 but my therapist and I both agree that it’s not accurate… It’s just the closest “box” that I fit into because there’s not a diagnosis that says “Chris.”

Whatever the “Chris” diagnosis is, it has given me a unique way to interact with this world and reality despite my ADHD, PTSD, and whatever else is going on.

I have spent years of my life doing shadow work (before I even knew what shadow work was), working through why I am the way that I am and tirelessly working to be the best version of myself. I choose to embrace who I am and my beautiful perceptions of people, situations, and the world.

My goal and mission in life is to positively affect change in as many lives as I can for as long as I can.

I started Inner Light Journeys here in Asheville so I could share the experience and the benefits of the light. It’s like the dessert bar at the self care buffet. Unlike exercise, therapy, and yoga, this doesn’t take any work. It’s just laying under a light and tuning out the world.

The most important thing to me is to be authentic, genuine, kind, and just myself.

I’m not a healer or therapist and I don’t push my beliefs on anyone. I DO encourage personal growth, however my clients decide how to define that.

I do my best to provide a safe, welcoming, and fun environment. My job is to hold space for people to make sure their bodies are safe while the light takes their brain where it needs to go… I’m just the lifeguard and the life guard doesn’t leave the pool.

If you’re wanting a fun and unique way to relax or if you’re like me and have never been able to meditate, this will without a doubt be an amazing introduction. If you do meditate, you’ll be able to go deeper than you have before.

Thanks and feel free to reach out with any questions!

My Personal Testimonial

I am the owner and obviously biased.

My review is based on my personal experience under the light.

Up until I tried my first light session, I didn’t think meditation was a real thing. I thought it was just something people said that they did to come across as “deep”. I know, I was a cynical asshole… BUT after the first 5 minutes under the light, it was like someone pressed a mute button for my brain and I became a believer.

For those familiar with float tanks, a light session is like the polar opposite but instead of under stimulation it’s over stimulation… but pleasant.

It only took those initial 5 minutes under the light for me to realize that I wanted to create a business around this experience.

Every session is different for everyone, every time. However, I’ve experienced that pretty consistently there is a calming effect that I feel while under the light that just sort of washes my anxiety away, my sleep is better, and I definitely feel a positive mood shift.

I’ve found that personally, the longer the session and the more regularly I have a session, the deeper I’m able to go.

Since I’ve been using the light, I’ve been able to teach myself how to tune out my racing thoughts and have had better and more solid sleep than I’ve ever had in my life as a result of that. It’s been a legitimate life changer.

The colors and patterns are beyond anything I’ve ever experienced sober or otherwise…
